Color Coding
The common inflation lumen and depth markings are now blue, to highlight the inflation path leading from the blue stopcock to the blue balloon.

New Safety Sleeve Color
The safety sleeve is now tinted yellow to enhance visibilty and serves as visual que to promote the correct usage.

Depth Markings
Depth markings indicate the insertion length of the shunt for both the internal inflation lumen and external inflation lumen of the carotid shunt.

2013-10: LeMaitre Pruit F3 Carotid Shunt w T-Port is secured in the vessel using occlusion balloons that eliminate the need for clamps. This reduces vessel trauma and allows for the use of a small incision, minimal dissection, and a short arteriotomy. Plaque endpoints can be visualized because the balloon holds the artery open during the procedure. This is especially important with high stenoses, when clamps cannot be used.

Safety balloon with a moveable plastic sheath minimizes risk of internal carotid artery balloon over-inflation (pressure diverted to the safety balloon).
Blood flow and pressure monitoring can be performed through the T-port, along with infusion and flushing and removal of embolic particles.
Any particles that enter on insertion of the shunt can exit through the side port.

Internal carotid balloon: made of latex, the balloon has an 8 mm diameter at maximum liquid capacity of 0.25 ml.

Common carotid balloon: has a 14 mm diameter at a maximum liquid capacity of 1.50 ml. Blue common carotid balloon corresponds to blue stopcock to simplify common carotid balloon inflation.

Safety balloon: if the internal carotid balloon over-inflates, the extra pressure is diverted to the safety balloon. 10-12 PSI is ideal for maintaining internal carotid balloon pressure; safety balloon inflates at 13-17 PSI.
